Isto como calculam deve-se ao facto de ter apenas 5 dos dos seus livros editados em Portugal, e de entre estes apenas 1 o foi nos últimos 10 anos. Como tal achei por bem deixar-vos hoje um repetente nesta rubrica. O livro "Ragtime"  ganhou o National Book Critics Circle Award em 1975 e o American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters Award em 1976. Foi ainda nomeado para o Nebula Award for Best Novel.

E aqui vos deixo mais um livrinho que gostaria muito de ver traduzido para português. Sei que é possível encontrar por aí uma edição em português do Brasil, mas para mim não é de todo a mesma coisa. Só gosto de ler um livro em português do Brasil quando é essa a origem do autor.

Por vezes na rubrica semanal Sugestão de Leitura menciono livros que foram finalmente traduzidos e que constavam na minha lista (sim, eu sou viciada em listas, assumo) de livros por traduzir. Quando fiz o passatempo de Fim de Ano e vos pedi que deixassem sugestões de novas rubricas para o blogue houve pelo menos um participante que sugeriu que fossem citados exemplos desses livros que nunca foram alvo de tradução para português.

Como tal resolvi criar esta nova rubrica. Pode até não ser muito interessante para a maioria, mas se tiver alguma utilidade para alguns já fico satisfeita. É até possível que alguns dos livros tenham tradução e eu não conheça e algum de vocês leia estes posts e me informe que afinal existe tradução, ou quem sabe alguma editora não lê esta rubrica e aceita a sugestão :)

Eu leio quase exclusivamente livros em português, principalmente porque, como penso que já referi anteriormente, pertenço ao grupo dos sem tempo, e se até domino razoavelmente bem o inglês e com um esforço hercúleo penso que conseguiria ler um livrito em francês, sem duvida levaria muito mais tempo a fazê-lo. E se mesmo em português já não os consigo ler com a rapidez que queria... Já para não falar dos muitos autores que escrevem nas inúmeras línguas que não domino de todo.

Deixo-vos hoje o primeiro (sem qualquer ordem definida) livro que gostaria de ver traduzido:

O autor e a obra: Rohinton Mistry nasceu na Índia mas emigrou para o Canadá em 1975. Escreveu 3 romances e 3 livros de contos, dos quais apenas um "Assuntos de Família" (Gradiva, 2004) se encontra traduzido em Portugal. Este "A Fine Balance" foi finalista do Man Booker Prize (1996), nomeado para o International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (1997), vencedor do Scotiabank Giller Prize (1995), vencedor do Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction (1996), vencedor do Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book Overall (1996) e nomeado para o CBC Canada Reads(2002), e nem assim foi alvo de tradução.
